I find pleasure in simple things. For the past week my mornings have begun with this beauty.
I wouldn't say that I have a green thumb but I do have pots on our front porch and back deck each spring and summer. Seeing them each day just makes me feel better. This is a plant I've not grown before.
A Ballerina White. It caught my eye at the nursery because it was such a large seedling. I've found pleasure in watching the first blossom. That first blossom became a bloom. It lasted only a short time but there are at least 5 more blossoms waiting in the wing. I'll keep watching and enjoying these simple pleasures all summer long.

BEAUTIFUL! You are definitely inspiring me. I don't think I have seen those types of plants before.
You know that's the wacky weed Nancy. Also known as Zombie cucumber. Whatever you do, don't eat it. Unless you are up for an out of body experience.
Aren't the simple pleasures the best? I'm doing my best to simplify around here, too...
And yes! I AM glad to find out it was the containers! At least I think so. We'll see in the next couple of weeks if my poor plants make a comeback!
Once upon a time I transplanted some bindweed thinking it was morning glory. I think they are botanical cousins or something. Anyway, my MIL (who else?) called me over to see if I wanted any of this morning glory vine that had volunteered itself in her flower bed. We rent out that little house in Wichita now, and I think the bindweed still thrives in the front flower bed, ten years later. My MIL still tries to get me to take her garden cast offs, too. I love wildflowers (a.k.a. weeds), but I will never again transplant bindweed. It's a pretty little flower, but it's domesticated cousin is a little more glamorous and I don't think it will strangle everything else in your garden.
Hey, I'd love to get together with you and Rechelle sometime when I'm up in Manhattan! We'll be up there on the 13th, but I'll have dh and dd with me and probably too much to do at that time. I'm sure there will be quite a few opportunities in the next year, though, since we are not sending the girl off to school with a car.
beautiful Nancy
Rechelle ~ wacky weed? Are you kidding me? Guess I should have had you as my sales gal.
