menu plan monday ~ the restaurant copy cat edition

I've said it before and I'll say it again. A menu plan is the one thing which helps maintain my sanity during the dinner hour every week. I've been somewhat lax in sharing the menu but trust me, it has a home on the side of the fridge each and every week. Here's this weeks plan:

Spicy Italian Sandwiches (our homemade take on the Subway sandwich by the same name), Chips, Carrot Sticks, Cucumber Slices

Chicken & Broccoli Calzones, Salad

Spicy Baked Tilapia, Broccoli Rice Bake, Fresh Fruit

Burrito Bowls (basically it's black beans (from the freezer) and rice with add-ons like shredded cheese, sliced avocado, green onions, salsa & sour cream; it's very similar to a Chipotle dish)

Homemade Pizza

Pulled Pork on Buns (from freezer), fries, salad

Baking for this week:
Blueberry Muffins
Applesauce Bread
Peanut Butter & Chocolate Bars (recipe will be up on Thursday)

We've got a couple of entrees this week that mimic dishes available at restaurants. Out of curiosity, do you try to copy your restaurant favorites at home? If so, what are your family favorites? Please share in the comments, or leave a link; I'm always game for recreating restaurant dishes at home. For more menu ideas, visit Organizing Junkie every Monday.

Yum! Do you make the calzones yourself? I've been wanting to try those...I just hate making dough. I don't know why...I just don't like it...I mean, I like to EAT it. I just don't like to knead it and roll it...blah.

I have managed to make a pretty good copy of Cashew Chicken at home. In fact, after making it at home I am pretty sure that the place we were ordering it from is using Yoshidas sauce.

Nice menu! You made a comment on my blog about the No Impact Man, and yes, he's made a documentary, and I think it's the same title as his book. So I'm looking forward to seeing it.

And reading your post about giving up on plastic containers, I agree with you on that one. Sometimes I feel like we have way too many. No Impact Man touches on that topic too.

I stumbled to your blog off an old post to a Small Notebook post. Lovely family and great ideas :)

That sounds delicious, Nancy! We do try to create a lot at home. My favorite foods are Chinese food, pizza, and anything/everything Italian. I am trying to branch out a little with Mexican and seafood dishes now.
