an answer that melted my heart

Just a quick little somehing to share....

Last night as I was preparing dinner, my dear oldest daughter came in to the kitchen to set the table. The meal I was fixing is a favorite of hers -- Spaghetti Carbonara. She said, "What am I going to do next year when you're not there to fix this for me?" I assured her that the campus dining center would be the answer but that she could come home for a meal whenever she wanted.

Then she said, "What I'm really going to miss most next year is my sister. We've been together our whole life. What am I going to do without her?" She was serious. I thought she might cry. I thought I might cry.

That moment was answer to a prayer. I have prayed for years that our girls would be close. Best Friends. Bonded together forever. I wanted them to have something I didn't. God heard me. He answered. God is good. Amen.

I think I AM CRYING. That is awesome...I never had a sister either. Always wondered what it'd be like. Thank goodness God has brought sisters in Christ into my life...it's close!

It makes me happy that your daughter will miss your Carbonara...it looks like reality begins to set in during senior year!

There's nothing like having a sister. I'm closer to my sister than I am anyone else. Tell her the cherish phone calls. Now that my only means of communication is a letter I miss picking up the phone to call my sister

my sister and I were not close at all growing up. Eight years between us. I am hoping Tallie and Tori will have that same relationship. They are only 25 months apart in age!

p.s. love that you blogged this!

ok, now i'm tearing up :) i am so glad your girls are close - my boys are 4 years apart and i am doing everything i can to make sure they stay close their whole life! my husband and his older bro are really close (although live far away from each other), and it's such a neat relationship to see.

That is my biggest prayer for my two girls. I want them to be each other's best friend and closest resource in times of trouble. I'm all weepy and happy for you (and your daughters) that they have that!

Oh my. This gives me hope. My girls are 15 months apart--7 and 6--and they fight 95% of the time. I pray every single day that they will be best friends and have a bond like no other. I LOVED this post. THANK YOU!

Having just spent a week with my sister and her new baby, I get how sweet this is. And just so you know, I thought I MIGHT CRY when I read that too. Rejoicing with you for the gift of sister/friends. :)
