Preserving Family History

Lawman received a package in the mail about 2 weeks ago from his dad. It was his dad's book.

Dad decided several years ago that he was going to write his life story. And true to his word, he did. First was volume I; last week's package contained volume II.

What a treasure this is for us and our daughters. His story to date (or relatively close to it) is down on paper, in black & white. Photos included.

So many times stories are lost as the older generation passes on. What a great way to preserve the family history. I know in years to come this will be a treasure trove of information for our daughters.

I've enjoyed reading it and I've learned a thing or two about my father-in-law. I am so thankful that Dad took the time to do this. Such a labor of love.

Wow, this is neat! Is it actually a published book for sale? Or is it something you can have made up for family?

That is so cool! I was just thinking the other day that I need to sit down with Danny's grandma and write down some of the family stories and go over photos with her. Maybe this will be a project the kids and I can work on some together this summer. It's too late to ask my grandparents. My brother and I are the only ones left from our dad's side of the family, too.
