it's been decided

....that my weekend activities shall be confined to the couch.

It all began with an achey back Thursday morning which progressively got worse throughout the day. By last night it was all I could do to find a comfortable position.

This morning I couldn't get out of bed. Literally. I needed a doctor and that's huge considering I've seen my general physician one time in the last year. Lawman knew it was serious. We waited until 8:00 to call the physician who fortunately could see me at 8:45. Getting me in/out of the vehicle was not an easy task.

It was the usual litany of questions when I arrived. What had I done? The thing is that I didn't think I had done anything. Although this little project is probably the cause of my sore back.

Doctor asked if I could tolerate a pain medication. I didn't know because I had never taken it. He couldn't believe it...hadn't I had surgery? Um, no. The only hospitalization I've experienced has been for childbirth. He prescribed 2 meds, both were new to me.

While at the doctor's office, I told him I needed to move, change positions. He said that was fine, go ahead. I stood up, found a comfortable position and stayed there. And while doing so experienced 2 serious spasms that had me on the way to my knees. After seeing that he immediately called the nurse in to administer a shot -- pain meds. Sweet.

Lawman has been a huge help today. Since I was already with him, I told him I'd ride to the pharmacy with him and would he mind going by the library and picking up a book that was on hold for me? A girl has to keep her priorities straight, right? Bless his heart, he did it.

When we got home he took on the role of nurse...administered my meds, got me drinks, blankets, made chicken noodle soup, got my cell phone, books, etc. He even agreed to watch an English t.v. series with me that I rented on Netflix (which we both are hooked on now). He even called in reinforcements for dinner, the ever popular pizza delivery guy. A real treat in this house!

Now here's the real kicker. I'm supposed to attend a birthday party tonight. For me. Our mortician friend offered to pick me up. He'd bring the cot and the hearse! Not quite the kind of arrival I want to make just yet.

I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Good thing you have such a good hubby to take care of you. I've never had a surgery or prescribed pain medication either, only been in the hospital to have babies or visit other people. I have had to help Danny walk into the chiropractor when his back has gone out, though. And here again, thank goodness you have Lawman and that he is probably just a bit more helpful than I was helping Danny in. I hope you're back on your feet soon!
